Mixfood Music By Studio Corbach
Mixfood Music is a company by Studio Corbach.
Studio Corbach was founded in 2004 and operates mainly in the Digital World.
At Studio Corbach we design websites, posters, flyers, logo’s, postcards. We’re also in the stockphoto and video’s business. And we do Field Recording.
In 2015 we started programming Rack Extensions (RE’s) for the Reason rack by Reason Studios under the name Mixfood Music.
Mixfood Music also produces music, mainly progressive trance and relax music under the name Dreamstate Melodies.
At Studio Corbach we try to be as creative as possible, every day!

Early 2015 we started programming and designing our first Rack Extension for Reason Studios, Mixfood Orange.
Mixfood Orange version 1.0 was released 0n March 23 2015.
In the same year we also released our 2nd Rack Extension, Mixfood Unison XS. Version 1.0 was released on June 17th 2015.
And at the end of 2015, right before Christmas on December 22 2015, we released our 3rd Rack Extension, Mixfood Ambi Nature.
More Mixfood Rack Extensions
2016 was the year to learn more about making Rack extensions, and most importantly how to sell them. We’ve got a lot of feedback from the community and we’ve learned from it. The first thing we had to improve was our designs.
Today we still listen to the community, but not so much anymore.. There is always opinions about every aspect of everything on the internet. So we try to filter out the useful comments about our devices and do something with it, but also we listen to our own opinion and try to find the right balance.
Back in 2016 we changed the design for Mixfood Ambi Nature to better fit our own idea we had for this device, but with a lot of imput from our fans. We released version 2.0 on December 23 2016.
Next to the redesign of Ambi Nature we started working on our 4th Rack Extension, but it took untill spring 2017 before we released it.
Wavetable time
In 2017 we designed, programmed and released two new virtual instruments and redesigned one. We redesigned Mixfood Orange and released version 2.0 on March 15th 2017.
After that we started programmig our first wavetable synthesizer, Mixfood ReMix. We released it on March 28th 2017.
Right after the release of Mixfood ReMix we started designing and programming our 5th device, Mixfood WT4. Building upon the knowledge we got from releaseing Mixfood ReMix we made another wavetable Synthesizer. It is a lot of work making good wavetables, and for Mixfood WT4 we had to make 400 unique wavetables. The device was released on June 8th 2017.
Field recording to the Rack
In 2018 we did a lot of field recording so we had less time to develop Rack Extensions. But we managed to make one and release it. Right at the start of the year on January 16th 2018 we released Mixfood Ambi Urban. Because we just love the idea of having field recordings right by you in the Reason Rack we made this second device packed with high quality field recordings. Mixfood Ambi Urban is more focused on everyday sounds like traffic and human sounds (laughing, crouds, talking, etc.). Its predesessor Mixfood Ambi Nature is filled with high quality nature sounds (animals, weather, water, etc).
Anyway, up untill the present day, these two devices our the top selling Mixfood Virtual Instruments. It’s because of the high quality samples and also because they are quite unique in their kind.
All about rhythm
Because we investment in recording gear in 2018 we started to record everyday sounds in the household (pots and pans and so on). The idea was born to turn some of those sounds into a drum machine.
A good and helpful drum machine needs a step sequencer, so we also had to learn how to program it. Early 2019 we were ready to release our first drum machine, Mixfood Knock. It was released on January 16th 2019. Exactly one year later than the release of Mixfood Ambi Urban.
Because we like the idea of using a recorded ‘knock on the door’ as a drumsound we named our 7th device after it. And there are plenty of home recorded knocks in the 1000 samples we used in Mixfood Knock.
Now we learned how to program a step sequencer we had to do more with it. The Reason Rack is an excellent place for rhythmic devicesĀ and so we decided to do 2 more devices with this step sequencer technique. on Februray the 19th 2019 we released Mixfood Step 128. A unique 128 slot step sequencer which can also be used as a drum machine like Mixfood Knock. But where Mixfood Knock holds 10 drum slots, Mixfood Step 128 only holds 1.
Mixfood Step 128 is more focused on controlling other devices through CV signals produced by the 128-step step sequencer. Just connect other devices to it using the CV-outputs on the back and off you go to numerous rhythmic adventures.
The all famous stutter effect is also a very rhythmic effect much used in all kinds of music. We decided to build our own stutter effect and that’s how Mixfood Stutter 128 was born. It was released on 14th of March 2019.
Mixfood Stutter 128 uses a 128 step sequencer to rhythmically stutter two user samples that can be loaded into the device. Just pick two short sound samples, load them into slot 1 and 2 of the device, set the step sequencer steps and press the play button. You can make some amazing rhythmic sounds with Mixfood Stutter 128. And when combined with the other two Rhythym devices, Mixfood Knock and Mixfood Step 128 it’s time to dance!
Because we were realy into Rack Extensions programming in 2019 we found time to release another two devices in the second part of the year. First up was Mixfood Octo, a 8 oscillator analog synthesizer. It was released om May 8th 2019. The final redesign had to wait untill later that year, Mixfood Octo version 2.0 was released on October 28th 2019. We thought the initial design was sort of cool, funny and different, but the community thought otherwise, and in the end we agreed on changing the design to its current design.
To finish 2019 we wanted to make more wavetables, because it’s so much fun and you can make a great synthesizer with them. We releasde our 3rd wavetable synthesizer and 11th device on November 5th 2019, Mixfood ReFresh.
Website redesign, mixing and VST’s
In 2020 we started to learn how to program devices outside of the Reason Rack. We are currently in the process of reprogramming some of our devices to be released as VST’s. More of that in 2021.
Also we are working simultaneously of designing and programming 4 new Rack Extensions, and also making them ready to be released as VST’s also. More of that coming also in 2021. This year of Corona raging over the globe we thought it was time to learn new skills.
At Studio Corbach we have a passion for music and also like to mix music. A few years ago we set ourself a goal to mak a 24 hour Trance Mix. Currently hour 18 is being mixed and we will hopefully finish the project in 2021. When it is ready the mix consists of more than 1400 trance songs from 1998 untill te present day. Currently trance track 1045 was added to the mix. You can follow this project on Mixcloud where we will release all 24 hours of the mix in 24 parts. We’ve just released hour 4 and will continue to release all finished hours this year.
The last project we decided to do in 2020 was the redesign of our website. During 2020 we relocated the website from our studiocorbach.nl domain to the new mixfoodmusic.com domain and we thought it was time to build ourself a new website to better fit our future goals.
When we start releasing VST’s we have to do a lot more branding and marketing and also host our own webshop where we can sell our VST’s. The old website was not able to host all of our future plans so we made this new one. Hope you like it! We think it fits our needs much better.
In the first months of 2021 we released 4 new instruments. Mixfood Water, Fire, Earth and Air. The instruments are packed with unique field recording samples and can be used to create amazing ambient soundscapes… BUT also they can be put into synthesizer mode. In synthesizer mode all field recording samples change into wavetables that can be played like a normal synthesizer. With these unique samples, the synth sounds are very dynamic and special.
With all the upcoming plans we look forward to the year 2021. Hopefully it will be a year full of love, happiness and music! We are so ready to put all the hardship and tragedies of 2020 behind us and look forward to a bright future with all of you.
Thanks so much for al your support!
